Leadership West Elects New Board of Directors

At the Leadership West Annual Meeting on June 10th, the membership elected new executives and members to the board. The Leadership West Board of Directors is a dedicated, hard-working group of volunteers, who donate their time, energy and resources to keep Leadership West strong and the West Valley thriving. They are the foundation of the volunteer-led, non-profit organization that is responsible for cultivating leadership in more than 350 alumni leaders over the past 16 years.

Neighborhood Award Program

The first-ever Surprise Neighborhood Award Program (SNAP) winners were recognized at a June city council meeting for neighborhoods and residents that have made contributions toward the future sustainability of Surprise's neighborhoods.

Dave McGrew, LW Class 12,operator of the Surprise Marketplace Chick-Fil-A, was recognized as “Outstanding Neighborhood Partner for his efforts donating food to various neighborhood organizations, clean-up events and block parties for six years. He has organized block parties, assisted the Surprise Sundancers, and supported the Chamber of Commerce.

LW Members on the Move

John Rowan, Class 15, just released a children's book called Jake the Bombed Out Bomb Dog. It's about John's experiences as an NYPD Detective during 9/11 and his adventures with his dog, Jake. Right now John is the Assistant to the Police Chief in Goodyear.

The Rev. John F. Maher, Jr. Class 13, of the Prince of Peace Episcopal Church in Peoria, announces that he has begun serving as Vice President of the Board of Valley View Community Food Bank. He met the director of the organization when both gentlemen recently spoke at Class 16’s Health and Human Services Day. That’s how Leadership West works!

New, LW Board Vice President, and Class 14 alumnus, Anthony Sumner, is proud to announce the 5th anniversary of his company, Sandbox Development Consultants. Read more about their accomplishments here.
